The Autumn Ballad

Can a resilient forward-thinking woman, stuck in a patriarchal world, fight for her rights and learn to survive in this world?

This story focuses on the life of a woman who, inspite of being born to a scholar, has always had a difficult life because she was the daughter of his concubine. When her groom dies on the day of her marriage, and she is wrongfully blamed, she vows to clear her name and save her life. On her quest for justice, she meets an arrogant yet crafty general who is as scheming as she is and who tries to thwart her at every step of her way. How these two resolve their differences and work together to find a way out of mysteries surrounding them, and fall in love with each other, is what forms the rest of the story.

Personally, I felt like this story had a lot of potential. However, as good as the starting of this drama was, things started going downhill towards the end. It seemed like a complete waste of great actors and director. The ending storyline included unnecessary character deaths, personality reversals and weird out-of-place separation of the leads. If I were you, I would definitely skip this one. Especially because the beginning is so good and the ending so bad, that just making it happy at the last moment just doesn’t seem enough.

Story Line: 8.9/10

The originality of the plot: The plot is original, but the ending storyline becomes totally illogical.

Acting of main protagonists: The chemistry between the leads is good.

Ending: Happy
