Our Blooming Youth

When a woman who defies the rules of her time finds herself being blamed for the death of her family, will she succeed in finding out the truth?

This drama follows the life of a woman who lives a double life as Joseon’s extraordinary detective. The world thinks it’s her brother who is the genius, and she uses him as a front to continue her work. However, her life takes a sudden turn for the worse when her entire family is murdered, and she is wrongly convicted of killing them. Running for her life with her trusted maid, she decides to approach the cursed crown prince, who was her late father’s confidant. Now, pretending to be a eunuch at the palace, she tries to win his confidence. However, things are never what they look like. The prince has his own agenda and is in no hurry to trust her. Will she be able to find justice for her family and clear her name? Or will her growing feelings for the crown prince lead her awry? Watch to find out!

My Review….

I wouldn’t say that this story was new or innovative, but I think there is just something about a tortured, cursed prince who just needs a few people who won’t betray him, that made me binge-watch this one till the very end. Let me warn you, though, that the female lead was a little too expressionless, and her acting was also okayish. Also, the chemistry between the two leads was lukewarm at best. I would say that the plot was disappointing in the sense that the characters in this story made no sense. The people in this drama did things such as hypnosis, which was frankly illogical and didn’t fit into the plot. Further, the idea of incorporating fantasy and mystery into the Joseon era was a huge failure in this case. The male lead frankly seemed to carry this entire drama on his shoulders from the beginning till the very end. Frankly, I found myself waiting for more moments between the secondary couple than the primary one. This alone would give you an idea about the state of affairs between the primary leads. So, if you are someone who wants to watch a joseon romance between the prince and a woman pretending to be eunuch, frankly there are better dramas out there such as “Love in the moonlight”, etc. But, if you just want a story where the male lead is too good to pass over, then you can give this one a try too. I leave the decision up to you!
