My Journey to You

When an assassin who yearns for freedom meets the one man who shows her what love really is, will their journey lead them closer or farther apart?

This drama follows the life of a woman assassin who is highly trained and belongs to a sect of assassins known as Wufeng. Inspite of yearning for freedom, she is bound to serve them until she is no longer useful. On what is the mission of her lifetime, she is sent to infiltrate one of the last remaining families who stand against Wufeng. Now, impersonating the potential bride of their leader, the Sword Bearer, she begins her journey. But, things never go as planned. On what is supposed to be a heartless and emotionless mission, she finds herself falling for the man himself, whose kindness knows no bounds. Adding more complexity to this is the presence of other assassins hidden in the Gong family, whose missions are as dangerous as her own. Will she find her freedom by completing her mission, or will she want something more than she wants her freedom? Watch to find out!

My Review….

In spite of this being an open ending, I was spellbound. The story is so intriguing and emotionally moving that it keeps you watching from the beginning till the very end. This is one of the very few stories out there that managed to show that every single person has both good and bad in them, and what we choose is who we become. Every single character had so many shades to them that I found it difficult to safely put them in a box and label them good or evil. Also, I can’t say that this story had just one lead pair. Honestly, it felt like there were two lead pairs in this one and I cant decide which one I liked more. The forbidden love between an assassin who years for freedom, and the kind-hearted leader of their enemy sect who has to prove himself at every turn, was as intriguing a watch as the complex love between the general of the Gong family who is feared by all and the other female assassin who can fool anyone. The tension, the unsaid pain in their eyes, the things that they hid from each other, and the sacrifices they made were quite heart-wrenching to watch and experience. I can easily say that this was a journey indeed, a journey of finding our true selves, a journey of revelations, and a journey of a lifetime for everyone involved. One caveat though, this drama has a lot of character deaths and if that is a trigger for you, you can consider skipping this one. Also, the ending was open-ended but in a good way that makes you wait for season 2. What happened to the leads? Were they able to find happiness? If you are someone who wants to watch a fluff romance, this is NOT for you. But, if you want to watch a story of intrigue, romance, and a story that will stay with you long after you are done watching it, then you can give this one a try. Just don’t expect closure, and you should be fine.
