This drama follows the life of the daughter of the former crown prince. She soon learns that the current emperor who is also her uncle is responsible for her father’s death. To protect her family from harm, she is forced to marry a general. However, on the night of her marriage, someone tries to kill her. Saved by a loyal servant of the family, who sacrifices his own daughter to keep her safe, he changes her face, so she looks like his daughter. Waking up, she decides to make it her life mission to find justice and take revenge for her family’s death. On her journey, she meets three men who are all different in a lot of ways. Trying to survive in the harsh world and finding a way to outwit those who wish to harm her, she finds support in the son of a duke. However, he has his own agenda, just like she does. Will these strong-minded people realize that only love is capable of driving away hate?
I really enjoyed this story. It had intrigue, mystery, action and romance in equal bouts. Though it wasn’t on the same level as “The Long Ballad” or “The Legend of Fei”, this drama was still pretty good. The thing I loved the most about this story was how both the female and male leads are portrayed. Both of them go through a lot, but still remain extremely strong and supportive of each other. The only thing that I didn’t like about this drama was that the male lead looks more like the villain, and the female lead often handles situations in a way that is not really possible in real life. Apart from that, the story was spot on. 40 episodes seemed a bit too long, but I was still hooked till the end. So, if you are someone who enjoys historical romance between two strong leads, then you will enjoy this one!
