Cute Programmer

Will a female programmer be able to fight against the society’s prejudices to work for her dream company and be with her idol?

This drama focuses on the life of a female programmer who majors in computer science and wants to work at the company of her idol. She fell in love with him in college and has followed his work closely over the years. When she realizes that his company does not allow female programmers to work, she pretends to be a guy to get in their programming department. The rest of the story follows their journey of learning to get over their past hurdles and fall in love.

I had kind of mixed reactions to this drama. The story wasn’t anything new and even though the actors did a good job of owning their characters, I didn’t enjoy this one. Maybe because, I am an engineer myself, but I found the entire concept of programming in the plot, completely unrealistic, misplaced and illogical. Thus, even though the leads had great chemistry, I could not relate with the plot at any level. Also, the female lead’s characterization goes from being extremely submissive in the beginning to downright dominant in the second half of the drama, which is so jarring that I could not digest that either. Thus, I would say this drama is a run-of-the-mill plot where the hero and heroine come together after facing a few hurdles and a crazy ex. I wouldn’t recommend watching this one at all, but, I will leave the decision up to you!
